Hi, I am Captain Michael Manis, a native Floridian and since I was a young boy the shallows or flats of our inshore estuary systems have been my favorite place to be. Some of my fondest memories are from when I was very young growing up fishing the tidal flats of the upper Florida Keys.

I specialize in fly-fishing and light tackle angling with artificial baits. Teaching is what really drives me, and I feel that it is important that you come away understanding everything from fish movements to presentation patterns including some new knots and rigging techniques. Hopefully, some of the skills acquired will be applicable anywhere you may fish in the future. Moreover, I really enjoy teaching children how to fish.

Captain Matt Crouse

Area Fished:
Charlotte Harbor/Pine Island Sound.

Launch Site(s):  I launch out of a few ramps depending on tides and weather conditions but I usually launch at a tiny local ramp and pick up either at Laishley Park or Ponce DeLeon Park.  I will also do dock pickups depending on the location.

Capt. Matt Crouse grew up fly fishing the mountain streams of Pennsylvania before eventually moving to Punta Gorda Florida in pursuit of saltwater game fish.  There he learned the intricacies of Charlotte Harbor and saltwater fishing techniques from a handful of the best fisherman in Southwest Florida.  Utilizing an 1820 Action Craft and a push pole he “stalks” fish for clients giving them the best fly casting opportunities he can.  Capt. Matt specializes in fly fishing, using many of his own fly recipes, and light tackle spin fishing, using both artificial and live baits.

With a B.S in Education, Capt. Matt enjoys the teaching aspect of fishing without placing pressure on his anglers.  He also loves working with children and seeing their faces light up while fighting the tough fish that reside in the harbor.
